October 30, 2013 (Wednesday)

Same routine in the morning as usual except I drink 2 cups of coffee and stay at Mikes school to help decorate for the fall festival tonight from 6-9.

Mike goes to a charter school where parents are required to volunteer 20 hours and attend 4 meetings/workshops throughout the school year. Instead of volunteering you can pay $10/hour. I think I will just volunteer. I got 4 hours in today.

Mike was a bit upset because we weren’t going to be able to attend. If my car was running, I would have said yes.

It was a really awesome experience volunteering and seeing just how hard these parents worked. I noticed we all had our one specialty. One was artsy, another was good at deciding how to arrange the decorations, and I was able to get the stripped screw out of the mummy to replace the batteries. It’s pretty awesome now that it’s working.

We came home and my husband wasn’t here yet. Today is an early day. Every Wednesday in the state of Florida, school lets out 1 hour early.

Did see a few strange things on the walk home. A gas container just sticking out of the gas tank on the car. A water meter plate removed and no service truck around.

I was so tired when I came home. Beth went to the cat jungle looking for snail shells. Mike did his homework and fell asleep doing it. My husband came home and I asked if I could nap. I did and woke up to dinner. He put the fixings on my hotdog also. Yep, he can be a sweetheart when he wants to be.

My kids have not been putting the characters and discs to Disney infinity away. I put the game up but my husband gave them the warning tonight that there will be no more next time.

We listened to the dvd and followed along in first Nephi 7 & 8. Mike didn’t do so well tonight with chapter 8, so we may just haveĀ  to do one chapter at a time. When the chapter is read, it is usually 5 or 6 minutes average.

Both children are supposed to be reading 20-30 minutes daily. This is an area we strugle with but I feel they need to read their scriptures too. I’m trying to kill two birds with one stone.

One thing I’ve been doing lately is taking my iPod with me on my trips to & from school. Just yesterday, I noticed it had a pedometer on it. I have the Walgreens app because that is where we get our meds and it’s easy to request refills on it. There is a section to log your steps and make goals. I’ve only done this 2 days so I will get to see the progress soon enough.

There is also this website I like. It’s called http://getglue.com . It has stickers that you basically want to collect. It will say when a movie is coming soon. It has stickers for sports too. Then the regular TV shows also, but you have to “check in” an hour prior or during the show. So, while I may not have cable, dish, satellite or whatever you want to call it, my knowledge is growing more and more with what is on TV, what teams are playing, and what movie will be out in theaters and when.

October 29, 2013 (Tuesday)

Got up 5:45am and fell into the usual routine. Came home around 10am and was “reading the paper” (fyi – going # 2) As I have said before I’m not a cat lover, but I don’t hate them. This cat lays on the floor while I do my thing, chills on the side of the bathtub and looks up at me, and even checks out what he looks like in the mirror.

It’s my daughters cat but hangs out with my husband the most. Beth calls him Terr Bear and my husband calls him Terrance. Either way, after I “finish reading, ” I go to lay down in the bed for a bit and the cat is in my spot.

image

It was very unusual. He wanted to be affectionate with me. I did show him some lovings. šŸ™‚

Again, started my journey in picking up my kids and the battery in my phone is dead. I’m guessing it did not charge while I was sleeping. I let Mike ride the 14 bus back to the towers while Beth and I got on the 102. My husband was home before us and rode up to get Mike.Ā  Apparently they have the schedule to the #14 flip flopped because he waited longer than what it says. All is good and both kids are home.

Both had good days in school and did their homework with no problems. My husband made dinner and played cards with Mike. Beth hung out at the cat jungle trying to find more snail shells.

We put in the disc and the guys voice read 1rst Nephi, chapters 5 & 6. I feel the holy spirit more & more everyday. I remember watching the movie Joseph Smith and the gold plates. In it, he gave Martin Harris the transcripts and to only show them to his family but Martin did not listen and showed them to others. Joseph Smith was no more to rewrite the lost transcripts of Lehi’s account. Those gold plates are currently sealed. But reading 1 Nephi chapter 6 verse 1 says that his father (Lehi) made an account of the genealogy that they are descendants of Joseph.

I really do feel my relationship with God growing stronger more & more every day.

I read this picture on facebook that said: Don’t forget to pray today because God didn’t forget to get you up today.

Point A to Point B

I was walking down the street to catch the bus so I can get my kids and I see this car that reminds me of something my ex would drive.

This car had its bumper chained to it.

image

That is some crazy stuff but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do with what you have.

Beth & her snail shells.

Beth gets on a mission to collect small things. I have given her the old prescription bottles with labels peeled off and the bags they come in.

Right now her tiny things she collects are snail shells.

image

But occasionally she finds the snail still inside.

image

She has collected many of these tiny shells

Here is her on the hunt.

More grateful then I say.

Every evening, my husband sets out my childrens uniforms. He cleans out the lunch box of my son and washes the thermos. He sets out the can of ravioli.

I heat up the ravioli, pack Mikes lunch, make coffee, administer meds, and make sure they are dressed and out the door.

He winds up cleaning up the mess due to time constraints of getting out of the house. He feeds the cats because his bicycle is in the way.

We used to wake up at 7am when my car ran properly. Now, we wake up at 5:40am.

Oct. 28, 2013 [Monday]

Woke up early and enjoyed a cup of coffee (words of wisdom says I should do differently). It was chilly this morning.

My kids and I headed out the door with our jackets on only having to go 1/2 mile. It took over 20 minutes to get our destination due to my daughter thinking I broke the rules at the traffic light when crossing.

Honestly, there is no safe way to cross the intersection for pedestrians. It is a three way stop with no crosswalks or buttons to push. All the traffic on Par St. just came off the interstate and is going to be turning left onto Clay St.Ā  So even when I try to cross Clay St. when they get a red light, Par will be turning onto Clay. I called and told them about it and they are supposed to do a traffic study. We will see.

We just barely made the busĀ  because of the bickeringĀ  and refusing to walk all in the name of me breaking the rules. We wait in the dark at and area that is not well lit and I had to flag down the bus. We had to walk up to the bus. The driver did not initially see us.

So thank God the 102 was running late because we were too. We made it to the village and caught the 443. It was early. We made it to my sons school at 7:18.

image

Not many cars in the parking lot and his teacher wasn’t there yet. We had to wait to go in and all I could think about was coffee. He finally goes in and Beth and I walk to her school.

Meds must have kicked in because she is happy and wants me to record her singing. She reminds me if myself. I used to sing all the time when I was young, thinking I was gonna be some pop star.

So now I wait for the bus and go home. Today is the day to deliver the meal and help a fellow member out who just had a baby BUT the meal has to be delivered between noon and five.

I leave a bit after noon to go start my journey of picking up my kids but I should have time when I get back. My husband bought the meal and he was home before me. He delivered the meal via bike andĀ  still beat me home. I’m so happy we helped out. It truly makes me feel good inside.

On the walk home we saw a cat. It was white with grey on it. It was cute. My kids wanted it. Lol

We made it home and both my children did their homework. I put in a dvd from the old testament collection and watched some of the videos. One especially caught my eye and I asked my husband to watch it and he did. Can’t remember the name right now.

It was mainly a peaceful evening. I got to talk to my son. He really is doing good despite all the challenges he has to face. I’m so afraid to let go and watch him grow up, make mistakes, &learn from them. It makes me think did I bring him up right with morals and values? I know he’s only 12 but he wants to ride the bus by himself, go to the park by himself (2 blocks away), and try to convince me he’s ready for an “m” rated game. I don’t want him to grow up. He’s so sweet and the world is a filthy place.
